ICOM LEGAL AFFAIRS OPEN SESSIONS

Two sessions open to all conference participants will be organised by ICOM Legal Affairs Committee during lunch breaks on 12 and 13 August. Both will include the “Ask a Lawyer” question/answer session on other matters you wish to discuss. Bring your practical questions.
The Committee also is undertaking a survey of ICOM members needs and issues over legal matters. Watch for our survey and discuss with us your needs.
 
Resolving Cultural Property Disputes the Easier Way!
The ICOM Legal Affairs Committee is pleased to present the new ICOM-WIPO Art and Cultural Heritage Mediation. This information session will discuss how and when the new program can assist you to resolve major disputes. It is co-managed by the World Intellectual Property Organization, a UN agency based in Geneva with extensive alternative dispute resolution (mediation and arbitration) experience.
This session will also discuss useful tools including data bases to search provenance and art thefts as well as examine their practicality.

Museum copyright and intellectual property rights!
The ICOM Legal Affairs Committee wants to provide you with updated information you can use for your various intellectual property issues. These range from copyright owners, unlocateable owners, exhibition rights, moral rights, intangible cultural property developments, digital issues, etc.
The Legal Affairs Committee also wants to hear from you about pressing issues facing you that ICOM might be able to address in the future.
